Set up different departments
To create separate data directories do the following: 1 Locate your esp data directory. (The default is c:\esp\files) 2. From your C drive, located in my computer in windows, open your esp data directory – Files. 3. Click the word File in the menu bar and select new folder 4. Change the name 'new folder' by clicking Rename from the drop down menu under the word File in the menu bar. 5. Enter the name of your new directory, i.e. odd week. Once have your directories created, simply click the browse button after you click the backup button located in the main menu. Make sure that any changes you make to the permanent schedule are done to your latest data in each directory you create. As long as you don’t share employees within each department, you can set up different directories, and list each department in its own directory. However, if each department has there own PC and you do not share employees between departments, it is recommended that esp be loaded in each department, so that there is no confusions as to which department your working on. Please make sure you obtain licenses to use esp for each department. If you do share employees within departments, then it is recommended that you abbreviate the name of each department prior to the name of position, i.e. 'ER Nurse” This will allow you to print a schedule sorted by department. Also in this scenario make sure that all employees that qualify for ER Nurse have all the departments listed in their respective Employee and Availability screen.
