Internal time clock ETC uses the Window's internal time clock. If you are running Windows NT or 2000, you can secure the clock using the operating system. To the best of my knowledge, Windows 95/98 has no method of locking the internal time clock. Users that are aware of this will be able to change the clock and 'fool etc'. If this is a concern, you will need to put the computer in a supervised area or use the old fashioned time clock.
Network setup instructions for etc. Instructions for etc setup on network.
Server:
Install etc following the normal installation instructions for the single user version.
Client:
Install etc following the normal installation instructions for the single user version. Locate the shortcut to start etc. This shortcut is normally located in the following directory if the default installation was used:
C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\Employee Time Card
Right click on the icon labeled 'ETC Employee Time Card' and select properties. The shortcut will be visible in the box labeled 'Target'. Change the letter of the second file reference from 'C' to the letter of the mapped network drive of the server. Below is an example of the before and after for an installation in the default directories for a network which the server is the 'S' drive.
Before:
C:\ETC\MSARN200.EXE C:\ETC\timecard.mdb /ini C:\WINDOWS\etc.ini
After
C:\ETC\MSARN200.EXE S:\ETC\timecard.mdb /ini C:\WINDOWS\etc.ini
Please repeat the client portion of this setup for each client computer.

Overtime Averaging Overtime is averaged for a 2 week period. To view overtime on a weekly basis, please change the pay period to weekly. Print the payroll report for the first week of the 2 week pay period, then change the pay period to the next week and print the report again. This will break the overtime down by week.
Password retrieval The password is set by the user and unfortunately we do not have access to it. At this time you have 2 options.
1> Reinstall etc. If you do regular backups, you can restore your data and only have to reenter your activity since your last backup.
2> Email us the file called 'Timecard.mdb'. We will have our tech support remove the password and email the file back to you. You can then copy your existing 'timecard.mdb' file with the new one, then set a new password. If you choose this option, please note that there is a $100.00 service charge which must be paid by credit card at the time the file is emailed (include your credit card number and expiration date with the email). Also note that our tech support guys will have access to all of your payroll information that is contained in etc. If this is a concern, then please do not choose option 2.
Reinstall Instructions It sounds like something may have been corrupted with your original install. Please reinstall the software. If possible, backup your data using the backup feature. After you reinstall, use the restore feature to get your data back into etc.
If you are still experiencing problems, please let us know.
Removing employees from etc Employees can not be removed from etc as they are needed when you reference previous schedules. You can move them out of your way, to the bottom of the list by simply adding a 'zzz' before there name. To do this, go to the administration menu and choose add/edit time cards.
Then type 'zzz' in the employee name box just in front of the employee name. For example, change the employees name from 'John Doe' to 'zzz John Doe'. The name are sorted by alphabetical order. This causes the unwanted name to appear at the bottom of the list.
Uninstall etc. To uninstall etc, simply delete the directory that etc was installed in and the shortcuts that links to it. There are no registry entries that need to be removed.
Thank You for your interest in etc.
